“Extremely disturbing experience after 10+ years of being loyal customers I have been coming here for at least 10 years, usually every summer, and my family has always loved their Balboa Bars and Frozen Bananas. The ice cream and chocolate have traditionally been excellent, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. Yesterday, our family came in and the manager was working. From the beginning, I noticed that he seemed unusually “off” while interacting with other customers, but I didn’t think much of it. Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that something was seriously wrong. I placed our order, and the manager made a mistake and gave me an extra frozen banana that I had not ordered. When I calmly pointed out the mistake, he became confrontational and insisted thatI was the one who was wrong! I told him that it was no big deal and that mistakes happen—we could simply correct the order. Instead of handling a very simple customer-service issue professionally, he became increasingly angry and refused to give me a refund. Then things became even more concerning. He was slurring his words, sweating profusely, appeared confused and disoriented, and his breath smelled strongly of alcohol. His behavior was erratic and aggressive enough that I genuinely became concerned about whether he was impaired. I cannot say what was causing his behavior, but whatever was going on, he clearly did not appear to be in a normal condition to be serving customers. As if that wasn’t enough, we were also given a Balboa bar with the plastic wrapper still attached to the ice cream. I brought it back and showed it to him. Rather than apologizing or simply replacing it, he became angry again and told me that he would provide no refunds. At this point, the situation had become extremely uncomfortable for my entire family. His behavior was so aggressive, strange, and unpredictable that my daughter became frightened and my daughter started crying. We asked to speak with the manager, only to be told that the person behaving this way was the manager. Our order was approximately $50, and despite the incorrect order, the defective/poorly prepared item, and the unacceptable customer service, I never received a refund. What bothers me most is not the mistaken banana or even the ice cream with the plastic still on it. Mistakes happen. It’s the way this manager treated a customer who was being completely calm and reasonable—and the fact that he appeared visibly impaired while working around customers and children. After more than 10 years of being loyal customers, I never expected to have an experience like this. It was honestly shocking and extremely disappointing. I strongly recommend that the ownership/management look into what happened here. A manager representing a business should be able to interact with customers calmly and professionally and should certainly not appear impaired while working. We will never return, and unfortunately I can no longer recommend this business to anyone. What used to be a place our family looked forward to visiting every summer has now become a place we will avoid.”

“Waaaaaay BETTER than Sugar and Spice! Too Sweet / Tutti Fruity uses real chocolate as opposed to Sugar and spices non dairy milk chocolate? We drove 40 minutes and made the mistake of getting our frozen bananas at sugar n spice but were disappointed in their milk chocolate. Super thin and no chocolate taste. Stopped in at Tutti Fruity / Too Sweet to see what their chocolate covered frozen bananas were and HANDS DOWN! AMAZING! Thicker chocolate and the chocolate actually tastes like delicious chocolate! Next time… Too Sweet for frozen bananas for us!!”
