“Solid spot for authentic street tacos! This taco stand sets up shop at the BofA/ABC Market shopping center off the corner of Bolsa & Magnolia. It's literally roadside - with a little table for eating, but most people including myself just ate in our car after getting our food. The menu has their offering of meats - in Spanish, English, and Vietnamese (the stand does setup shop in Little Saigon). Tacos are $2, Burritos and Nachos are $10 each. The presentation was great - or as great as you can get with a taco stand. The Al Pastor trompo was awesome. You order with the main chef (who speaks English as well), and head down the food assembly line, grabbing grilled onions, cilantro/onions, cucumbers, other condiments. There are three types of salsas at the end - the avocado was my favorite, since it wasn't too spicy. My order was two al pastor tacos, and a carne asada burrito. Both had generous meat toppings/fillings - every bite was full of flavor. They really do not skimp on the filling here! My burrito had the carne asada, rice, and beans - but it was mostly meat. On followup visits, I've also tried their nachos - which they layer with a generous helping of fresh chips, nacho cheese sauce and toppings. You can get with no protein or with protein. They take Cash and Zelle only. No cards. There is a BofA ATM steps away if you need to get cash. Supposedly, they set up around 630pm - but when I came at that time, the cashier guy told me it would be another 20-30 minutes before they were ready. So I say, go around 7pm. The shopping center at that time, would be mostly closed - so parking isn't an issue. The line looks long initially, but gets moving pretty quickly once they open up. I knocked off a star because it's a bit chaotic getting your own sauce and cilantro, and other patrons were coughing into the sauce trays without covering up (ugh). Overall, a new favorite whenever I'm in the area around this time!”

“I've been coming to Tacos El May for a while now. They started as a stand in front of the Bank of America around Bolsa and Magnolia, and back then it was always a little unpredictable. Sometimes they'd be there, sometimes they'd move, sometimes they'd get shut down by the cops lol. Now they've upgraded to a truck and have actual hours, so definitely check their Instagram before heading over because they post their schedule and specials there too. The tripas extra crispy are FIRE. That's easily my favorite thing here and what keeps me coming back. I usually get tripas and asada, then occasionally switch it up with pastor. The asada is good, pastor is okay, but extra-crispy tripas is the move for me. One thing that puts this place higher on my taco list is the sauces. I actually like all three of them, and not every taco spot can say that. Give me good meat AND good sauces and I'm happy. They keep the menu pretty simple but have things like nachos, quesadillas, burritos and different specials. I've seen $5 tortas and discounted tacos depending on the day. Their aguas frescas have consistently been good too. They used to be cash only, which wasn't exactly a problem considering you're literally standing in front of Bank of America lol, but they take Zelle now too. My only question mark is the portion since moving into the truck. On my most recent visit, it seemed like I got noticeably less meat on my tacos than I used to. I've been here enough times without that problem that I'm not holding one visit against them yet, so we'll see if that was just a fluke. Grab your cilantro, onions and sauces and you're good to go. I've been back plenty of times and I'll keep coming back. Extra-crispy tripas, all three sauces and an agua fresca — that's my order.”

“Had to redo this review. It was a five star but now this place is really bad. I don’t see the original people there no more. The taco and burrito quality went down a lot. The tacos and burrito barely have any meat in it anymore. The food truck next to it is way better. So sad to see this happen.”
