“⭐ ONE STAR — APPALLING ARROGANCE, COMPLETE DISREGARD FOR PATIENTS, AND A REDEEMED GROUPON FOR A PROCEDURE NEVER PERFORMED. I have rarely encountered such an extraordinary combination of arrogance, disrespect, and unprofessionalism in a medical setting. I drove over an hour to PCH Med Spa for an elective cosmetic procedure costing well over $1,000. My appointment was at 3:00 p.m., and I arrived at 2:45 p.m., as instructed. At approximately 3:40 p.m., the provider finally appeared. No greeting. No apology. Not even the most basic courtesy. Instead, he immediately attempted to upsell me an additional $550 in treatment. When I declined and explained that I only wanted the procedure I had already purchased, he walked away and began attending to another patient. By nearly 4:00 p.m., I had completely lost confidence in him. I politely informed the receptionist that I was uncomfortable proceeding. Her response? "Too bad, we've already redeemed your Groupon." I was stunned. I had NEVER shown her my Groupon voucher, provided a redemption code, or authorized anyone to redeem it. NO PROCEDURE HAD BEEN PERFORMED. NOT ONE SECOND OF TREATMENT. YET MY VOUCHER FOR OVER $1,000 HAD BEEN MARKED AS REDEEMED. When I questioned this, the receptionist simply shrugged. And then came the most astonishing part of the entire experience. The provider confronted me and began raising his voice. When I attempted to explain that I had driven over an hour, arrived early, and been left waiting, he repeatedly spoke over me. Rather than listening to a patient expressing legitimate concerns, he launched into a self-congratulatory account of his supposed international reputation, how extraordinarily busy he was, and how in demand his services were. Apparently, in his view, his professional reputation was sufficient justification for disregarding a patient's time. I was not interested in his fame. I was interested in being treated with basic courtesy and respect. I have never encountered a medical professional so determined to impress me with his own importance while demonstrating so little interest in the person standing in front of him. The irony was remarkable. I was trying to explain why I no longer felt comfortable allowing him to perform a procedure on me, and his response was to become even more aggressive and dismissive. He could not even allow me to finish a sentence. For someone who considers himself internationally renowned, I found his conduct astonishingly unprofessional. And when I asked about recovering my money for the treatment I had never received? I was told to take it up with Groupon. So here is what my experience amounted to: Over two hours of round-trip driving. Nearly an hour waiting beyond my scheduled appointment. An unsolicited $550 upsell. A provider who raised his voice and repeatedly spoke over me. A receptionist who shrugged when I questioned the redemption of my voucher. And more than $1,000 spent on a procedure that was NEVER performed. I am now formally disputing the redemption and seeking a full refund. I cannot comment on this provider's clinical abilities because I never received treatment. I can, however, comment on how I was treated as a prospective patient. Professional credentials, international recognition, and an impressive reputation mean very little when a provider cannot demonstrate basic courtesy, humility, or respect for the people paying for his services. Patients are not an inconvenience. Their time matters. Their concerns matter. Their consent matters. And no patient should feel intimidated or shouted down for deciding they are uncomfortable proceeding with an elective medical procedure. My experience at PCH Med Spa was humiliating, upsetting, and completely unacceptable. I would never return, and I cannot recommend this establishment. ONE STAR.”
